Production of electricity
The company is engaged in the construction and operation of a power plant producing electrical energy by gasification of coal and other alternative fuels. It is also engaged in the marketing of electricity, as well as the production of natural and synthetic gas. The company was established in the year 1992 by eight European utilities and three technology suppliers. Its registered head office is located in Puertollano, Spain. The company operates a power station of 335 MW gross (ISO conditions) in Puertollano, which is one of the largest plants in Spain. The productive system is based on the coal gasification integrated in a combined cycle, reducing the atmospheric emissions. The commercial operation of the plant took place on 1996 with Natural Gas and 1998 with coal and petrocoque (50/50). The products and services of the company include: energy sales, by-products and training. The company sells the electrical power produced at its plant through the Endesa electrical power control centre. Since the beginning of the operation, the company has been marketing byproducts, such as sulfur, fly ash and part of the slag, which are produced in the various stages of the coal gasification process and during scrubbing of the generated gases. Further, it has Puertollano training simulator, which has been conceived as a part of a comprehensive operation staff training plan.
